"It smells of resin."

That is a hint one of our colonists can now get while working near a tree. A small, nice thought, and until now a useless one: smells of resin... what does? The card in the Tech Tree gave no answer.

## What we wanted

The owner put it plainly while we were talking this through:

> "it smells of resin. what does? how do we tie it to the thing that caused it? lets brainstorm"

Their answer to their own question shaped the whole change:

> "by the time we get the hint, we would have observed it, in most cases, so we can name it, even if we haevnt we can still name it with the unobserved name i guess. 3 could work, even if the thing is gone, it could show the area still."

## What a card says now

Here is how a card looked before. It names who had the thought and nothing else.

Now the card also says what the colonist was doing when the thought came, for example "Nova noticed while watching it". The wording depends on the activity: while picking its fruit, while gathering branches under it, while hunting it, or while watching it. If the colonist has already worked out what the thing is, the card uses its real name. If not, it uses the name the game gives something still unidentified, so the card never claims more than the colonist knows.

Clicking a card shows the spot on the map. The game remembers where the thought happened, so if the thing is gone by the time you ask, the area is still shown.

Think of a colonist's notebook. Before, the margin note said "smells of resin" and nothing else. Now it says what they were looking at, and roughly where they were standing.

## Open questions

- Should a card say more than the activity and the place, such as how long ago it happened?
- Should a card for a vanished source say so in words, or is the highlighted area enough?
