A fallen colonist can now be carried to a grave and buried. Choose a grave under Build → Rest, select someone to do the work, then order them to bury the deceased. The job ends with a mound of earth and a wooden cross; selecting the grave tells you who lies there.

Getting there took more than putting a brown patch on the grass. The founder wanted the burial to read as a physical action: a hole, a body lowered below ground, then soil covering it. Playtesting also exposed two details that broke the scene—colonists crossed the empty space as though it were solid ground, and the worker faced away while filling it.

The grave now makes people walk around it. The worker stays at its edge, faces inward and uses a two-handed shovel motion while the soil rises. That turns the same order into something you can follow without watching a progress bar.

This builds on [carrying bodies](https://opensystems.app/projects/01M3B70Q318G1G8N0NSV63ME5X/journal/01M4W3382T35DNXQ4RSDB82ZZ6). Burial uses that same carrying and lowering work, and interrupted filling can resume where it stopped. The grave keeps the deceased's identity and belongings, though there is no way to retrieve those belongings in this first slice.

## Open questions

Burial is a manual order for human corpses for now. Automatic burial duties, funerals and grief are still outside this slice. How much should remembering a colonist change daily life for those left behind?
