Move the pointer over a colonist, a bed or a tree, and a pale line now traces its shape. It is a small preview of what a click will select—like putting a finger on a page before reading a line.



Trees needed a little care. Their leaves are pictures with transparent edges, so the line needs to follow the foliage rather than the invisible rectangles carrying it.





Moving onto a menu clears the world highlight. Placing a building clears it too, leaving the placement preview to do its job.

## Open questions

How well does this first version read in a crowded camp, at different zoom levels? The next useful feedback is ordinary play: whether the line makes choosing an object feel clearer without becoming distracting.
