The expeditions entry ended by asking what you'd want to find out there next. One of the options was other people. Now they're out there.

## A stranger, a soldier, a traveller

Three new places can turn up on an expedition, and each one has a person waiting. The lead doesn't say so: you only find out when your explorer gets there. How much you learn about them depends on who they are:

- **An exhausted stranger.** You see their name and the state they're in. What they're good at, you'll only find out later.
- **A former soldier.** They tell you about their past, so you know they can fight, but nothing more.
- **A safe traveller.** You spend time together, so you can inspect them like one of your own crew: needs, every skill, what they like, what they're carrying.

## Invite, help, or walk away

You can invite them to your colony. If they're in trouble, you can also share some of your food and help them reach shelter instead, without taking them in. Or you can leave them behind, but leaving someone in need stays with your explorer. It weighs on their mood for weeks, slowly fading. The game shows what that will cost before you confirm.

Someone you invite walks home with your explorer. They arrive on foot at the edge of camp, keeping the skills and condition they had out there, and they start on the normal survival routine like everyone else.

## Asking someone to leave

If it doesn't work out, you can ask a colonist to leave, after a warning. They take their belongings and walk out, and the people who stay will feel it for a while. You can't send away the last person in a camp.

For now there are three of these encounters per camp, and none of them repeats. It's the first way your colony can grow; more will come.

## Open questions

- Would you ever turn someone away? What would make you do it?
- Should strangers sometimes turn up at your camp asking to stay, instead of waiting to be found?
