Until now, a work order at a crafting spot meant "make this many." Once it had made them, the order was done, and when the camp ran low again you had to remember to order more. Colonists now understand a better kind of order: **keep this many around.**

## Three kinds of order

Every crafting station takes a list of orders, worked from the top down:

- **Make X:** make this many, then stop.
- **Maintain X:** keep at least this many in camp. When stock drops, make more.
- **Make forever:** keep going as long as there are materials.

"Maintain" is the one that changes how you play. Tell a colonist to keep four twine on hand and they'll make twine until there are four, then go do something else. When someone uses a couple, the order wakes up by itself and tops them back up.

The count is honest. It includes twine sitting in storage, twine a colonist is carrying, and fresh twine still lying where it was made. Twine already being made at another station counts too, so two stations won't both rush to fill the same gap.

## Don't eat the seed corn

Each order also has a **reserve** for its ingredients: "make twine, but always leave ten sticks." You'll find it under the order's Details, so a busy crafter can't use up the last of something the camp needs for other work.

## Open questions

- Right now the camp counts only what it can see and hold. Should goods packed for an expedition that's about to leave count as "in stock", or not?
