Until now it never rained on Landfall. Every day was the same flat, sunny afternoon. Now the sky changes, and the colony has to live with it.

**A sky that moves.** Weather comes in fronts. A clear sky clouds over, sometimes it only stays grey, and sometimes it turns to showers or a long steady rain. The brief for how it should look was simple: make it nice. Cloud shadows slide across the ground, pushed by the wind, faster when it's blowing hard and lazily when it's calm. While it's raining properly the whole world sits under cloud. As the rain eases off, patches of sun start breaking through again. Rain falls at a slant in the wind, splashes little rings on the ground and the water, and you can hear it, along with the wind.

The weather is worked out from the world itself, so two people playing the same world get the same storms at the same time.

**Getting wet.** Rain isn't only scenery. A colonist caught outside slowly soaks through, and a soaked colonist feels about four degrees colder and sleeps worse. Standing under a roof stops the soaking, and drying off is faster under cover and faster still next to a fire.

**Fires and animals notice too.** An open campfire in heavy rain burns through its fuel faster and gives off less heat; one with a roof over it carries on as normal. Out in the wild, animals that aren't busy fleeing, eating or drinking head for the cover of trees when the rain settles in.

This is the first slice. There are no seasons, snow or thunderstorms yet, and a cold wet night is uncomfortable but not deadly.

## Open questions
- Is getting soaked punishing enough to make a roof worth building early, or too mild to notice? It needs playing to find out.
- When seasons arrive, how cold should a wet winter night get before it becomes dangerous?
