Plans are great until you need something done *right now*. A cold front is 90 seconds away and nobody has started the shelter. This part was about giving the player direct orders without taking the plans away.

## An order is a detour, not a new plan

When you tell a colonist to do something by hand, they do it, then go straight back to their plan. You don't have to remember to switch them back.

## The first try missed

The first version put the orders on an object's info panel: click the shelter and pick "Build shelter · Sage" from a list of buttons. It worked, but it felt backwards. You were choosing the thing first and the person second, and every object's panel filled up with buttons.

So it was redone the way most strategy games do it: **select a colonist, then right-click something**. A small menu shows what that colonist can do with it, and anything they can't do right now is greyed out.

## Place it, and they'll build it

A proper **Build** menu lets you pick what to build and then place it. While you move it around, a see-through blue ghost shows where it will go. It turns red when something is in the way. Once it's placed, it's a blueprint, and a colonist whose plan says *if there's an unfinished blueprint, build it* goes off and does exactly that.

## Look inside

A finished shelter has a roof, which hides whoever is inside. One button in the corner hides and shows the roofs, so you can check on everyone.

Next: a proper camp, with stockpile zones, bedrolls, and an inventory that goes everywhere with you.
