Two additions to the solar wing design, aimed at real-world city use — and they turn out to share one mechanism.

## Night / stealth mode

When stealth camping in a city, big glass panel faces on a van's sides say "expensive, please investigate." New requirement: at night the wings **rotate all the way over the roofline hinge (180°) and lie face-down on top of the roof array**. Result:

- From the street: a plain white work van with what looks like a roof rack. No visible solar anywhere.
- The cells are sandwiched inward — wing faces against the roof array — **protected from vandalism, theft and prying**.
- Same position works while driving: cells shielded from road debris, cleanest aero.

The elegant part: this is the **same hinge** that deploys the wings. Vertical wall-stow is 0°, awning/tracking is 90–150°, stealth-stack is 180°. No new mechanism — just a hinge and actuator designed for the full travel from day one, plus highway-rated retention latches at both stow positions. That requirement is now locked in the design doc so nobody builds a deploy-only hinge.

## Bi-fold wings

Each wing also folds in half along its length (2.0 m → two ~1.0 m leaves). Two payoffs:

1. **Deploy in a parking space.** A full wing sweeping out would swing over the car parked beside you. Bi-folded, the wing deploys at half width inside your own footprint — unfold the rest only when there's room.
2. **Stealth mode gets cleaner.** Two half-width wings sit **side-by-side** on the roof instead of stacking on each other — flatter, simpler latching.

## Updated mode table

| Mode | Position | Output |
|---|---|---|
| Driving (gen) | Vertical against side walls | ~1.9 kW |
| Parked / tracking | Deployed 30–60°, sun-tracked | ~3.2 kW |
| Rain awning | Deployed flat | reduced, still generating |
| **Stealth / night** | 180° — face-down on the roof array | 0, protected + invisible |

Wings are still phase 2–3 hardware — this is requirements capture, not a build report. But hinge travel is the kind of decision that's cheap now and miserable to retrofit, which is exactly why it goes in the thread today.
